"Today I am thankful for all the people in my life."
The first time I heard these words, they came from the lips of a 3 years old child.
The child has now grown into a woman and now has a child of her own.
It seems like the words were written in my memory. Did my actions change? I think not. It's been 23 years and today I am just getting it.
How do we see others? Do we see others as links in a chain (humanity) supporting each other... linked together for strength with hope?
A chain is as strong as its weakest link. Or should we say a weak link should be strengthened in a timely manner by the stronger links?
Yes we need each other but we are on target when we also see each other, not only as links on a chain, but also as strings of pearls where each pearl has equal but independent value.
When unity with diversity opens up to us (understanding and wisdom) Then and only then will this prayer ring true. We can then be truly thankful for all of the people in our lives.
We should try to see everyone's worth and what unites us.
The university of life demands it! How is my grade? How is your grade? Start today. Say the change begins with me.
Say it. Believe it. Be it.
Love and respect one another.
P.S. In each of us is a little of all of us.
